A 14-year-old boy and another, 17, were chased and caught by police in March, Cambridgeshire, and found to be in possession of an imitation firearm.
Policing Fenland, the local Facebook page for the area, reports that officers were on duty at the Christmas lights switch on when someone reported to them youths had been seen carrying knives around the town.
“After a short foot chase, two teenage boys were located and searched,” says a report issued by Policing Fenland.
“No knives were recovered, but an imitation firearm was found.
“Two boys aged 14 and 17 were interviewed at the scene and then taken home, and we have reported them for the offence, and enquiries are ongoing.
“Apart from this, the lights switch on Friday was a great event and we hope that everyone who attended had a lovely night.
“It is illegal to carry offensive weapons.”
