The family of a man who died after being attacked outside a block of flats have paid tribute to surgeons at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, who had fought to save his life.

In a tribute issued by the family of Nigel Mazs special mention is made of the neurosciences critical care unit (NCCU) at Addenbrooke’s which treats more than 900 patients each year, around 100 of which are admitted with severe head injuries.

“As a family we would like to thank the neuroscience team at Addenbrooke’s Hospital for all the amazing work they did with dad,” the family said in their tribute.
