Wilds Lodge School is delighted to celebrate an Outstanding rating from Ofsted for
its residential provision, a recognition that reaffirms the school’s dedication to
creating a nurturing environment where young people with social, emotional, and
mental health needs can thrive.
The inspection report, which was published following a comprehensive three-day
review of Wilds Lodge’s residential provision, praised the school’s dedication to
meeting the unique needs of each learner. The report affirmed the exceptional
quality of care provided by the “well-established and highly effective” staff who “go
above and beyond in ensuring the safety and well-being of children.” Staff are
recognised for their commitment to making learners feel secure, respected, and
valued. One learner described the residential provision as “the best home that I have
ever lived in.”

The school’s inclusive approach emphasises listening to each child’s voice while
supporting their journey toward independence. The report highlights a “strong focus
on ensuring a restorative approach,” helping learners understand the consequences
of their actions and develop self-regulation skills.
Ofsted also commended the significant progress learners make “in many areas of
their lives.” One learner shared, “Because I am here, I have made progress. I swear
and fight less, and I’m more likely to walk away. I use these things at home too.” This
feedback reflects the school’s impact in helping learners build confidence, manage
emotions, and take pride in their achievements.
The Head, Toby Oakley, acknowledged the hard work of the outstanding residential
provision:
“This recognition is a testament to the incredible work of our staff, the trust and
support of our families, and the remarkable progress of our learners. We are
immensely proud of all that we have accomplished and will continue to build on this
success.”

The report also highlights the school’s strong relationship with families. Open
communication fosters a collaborative approach that supports learners at every
stage. One parent shared, “I will forever be grateful to the school for saving not only
my child, but us as a whole family unit.”
Individualised care is central to Wilds Lodge’s approach, with Ofsted noting that “staff
have a good understanding of children’s emotional needs.” The school’s proactive,
skilled staff ensure learners feel safe and supported in an “extremely well-kept and
homely environment.”
Head of Care, Becky McSharry, emphasised the importance of collaboration with
families:
“Our learners’ success is a direct result of the partnership we have with
families. Together, we create a secure and encouraging environment
where children flourish.”
With “no points for improvement” identified by Ofsted in this inspection, Wilds Lodge
remains committed to maintaining its outstanding residential standards and
continuing to support learners’ growth and development.
