The mother of a motorcyclist who died in a crash on Friday said today “my heart goes out to the driver of the car that killed my son.

“No one sets out on a journey intending to cause a death, and I am sure the pain that you are in is a huge burden to bear.

“And so, I think it is important you know I do not blame you in any way. And I know my son would say the same.”

Josh Bendall, 40, of Barway Road, Soham, was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle on the A142 when it was involved in a collision with a Volvo XC90, at the junction with Northfields Road, Soham, at about 9pm.

His family said of Josh: “All of his family and friends are heartbroken by his death, and his loss leaves a large hole in all our hearts. We believe that he is now in God’s love and keeping.”

In a social media post to the Volvo driver, Josh’s mother Linda said: “I am praying for you and hope you can find peace.

“As a family we are all believers in God, as is my son, and we take comfort that he is now at peace. I hope someone passes this message on to you. xx”.

Josh’s family issued a further statement through Cambridgeshire Police.

They said: “Josh was a much-loved father to three wonderful children. All of his family and friends are heartbroken by his death, and his loss leaves a large hole in all our hearts. We believe that he is now in God’s love and keeping.”

A 56-year-old woman from Soham was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

She has since been released on bail until 10 May.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage should visit Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s website or call 101 quoting incident 531 of 6 April.
