A woman caught with almost 80 indecent images of children tried to claim her Facebook page had been hacked. A court decided she was lying. The phone was checked and contained no evidence of hacking.

Amy Hunt, 37, uploaded an indecent image of a child to Facebook on 6 March 2023 and police were alerted.

She was arrested and police seized a mobile phone and tablet where they found 79 indecent images of children.

They included 38 category A images, 20 category B images and 21 category C images.

In interview, Hunt tried to claim the images on her phone and the Facebook upload were a result of her phone being hacked.

However, the phone was checked and contained no evidence of hacking.

On Thursday (30 January), at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court, Hunt, of Campkin Court, Cambridge, was jailed for one year, suspended for two years, having pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of a child.

She was also ordered to undertake alcohol treatment, 30 rehabilitation days and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register and handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, both for ten years.

DC Zip Lloyd said: “Although Hunt didn’t commit any contact offences, making and sharing images still causes a lot of harm.

“Protecting children and the vulnerable is a force priority and we are doing all we can to put the perpetrators in front of the courts.”
