A man who stabbed a man in the neck and kidnapped another has been handed a life sentence.

Michael White used a kitchen knife to stab his 32-year-old victim in the neck in Dorset Close, Wyton, at about 4am on 16 April last year (2022).

Leaving his victim covered in blood, White made his way to an associate’s home in the village to wash his clothes, the knife, and his mobile phone.

At Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (6 February) White was sentenced to life in prison and must serve a minimum of 11 years and nine months.

The victim sought help by banging on the doors of nearby properties.

The victim was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for emergency lifesaving surgery after suffering an arterial bleed.

He had multiple other slash wounds to his hands and face.

Meanwhile, White, 37, left Wyton and hailed down a member of the public and demanded a lift to St Ives.

White told the driver he “had just killed someone” and threatened to stab him too.

As they arrived in St Ives, White pulled out a knife and punched the driver in the face before walking to his home in Tamar Close.

The driver called police and White was arrested at his home just after 7am.

Previous to this incident, in May 2020, White launched an unprovoked attack on a 15-year-old boy in Tamar Close, biting off a chunk of his ear.

At Cambridge Crown Court on Monday (6 February) White was sentenced to life in prison and must serve a minimum of 11 years and nine months.

He pleaded guilty to kidnap, wounding with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and grievous bodily harm.

Detective Constable Kenny Reeves, who investigated, said: “White is a dangerous man who considers himself to be above the law and has no concern for the lives or safety of others.

“The sentence he has been given reflects the seriousness of his actions and the danger he poses to members of the public.”
