Dramatic footage of a motorcyclist who lost a toe when he crashed into an Audi on a Cambridge road has been released by Cambridgeshire police. The crash caused a huge fireball after Stavius Gordon flipped off his motorcycle and watched it burst into flames.

Gordon was charged with driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, driving without due care and attention and driving without insurance.

At Cambridge Crown Court on Thursday (21 September) he was brought from Peterborough prison where he is serving a separate sentence.

He admitted the motoring offences and was given a £120 fine and nine points on his licence.

Gordon, 31, was riding his KTM motorcycle along Ditton Lane in Cambridge, just before 6pm on 9 September last year (2022), when he collided with an Audi travelling in the opposite direction into Dunsmore Close.

Gordon flipped off his bike as it burst into flames causing damage to the Audi and a nearby private ambulance.

He initially denied riding the motorcycle but thanks to dashcam footage and statements from other motorists, who witnessed his driving in the lead up to the collision, he was charged with driving without due care and attention.

PC Sarah Pride, who investigated, said: “I would like to thank witnesses who came forward and described Gordon’s manner of driving in the moments leading up to the crash.

“Gordon lost a toe as a result of the collision, but it was thanks to his helmet that it wasn’t anything more serious. He had a provisional licence and will need to reapply.”

The court heard that he followed his ex-partner on a motorbike and smashed her car window has been jailed for almost two years.

Gordon rode up to the victim’s car while she was parked at the Spar shop, in Barnwell Road, Cambridge, at about 7pm on 29 July 2021.

He started intimidating the victim, who was waiting to give her mother a lift, and kicked her wing mirror.

A short while later he got off the motorbike and punched the driver’s side window, causing it to smash.

As she tried to get home, the victim and her mother faced further intimidation and sought refuge in a filling station in Newmarket Road.

Finally, the victim’s brother picked both her and her mother up.

Police described it as a “terrifying experience for the victim and her mother “.

They paid tribute to the victim “for her courage in coming forward and helping support us with a prosecution”.
