A murder investigation is under way in Wisbech after the discovery of the body of a 47-year-old woman in a bungalow.

Cambridgeshire Police said they have “several leads” but there have been no arrests.

Police revealed tonight they are carrying out ‘reassurance patrols’ on the Waterlees estate.

Police were called by the ambulance service at 6.33am yesterday morning (10 January) after the woman’s body was discovered at her home in Beechwood Road.

A post mortem examination is expected to take place on Friday.

Detective Inspector Lee Martin, from the Major Crime Unit, said: “We are following several leads and carrying out enquiries to find those responsible, however no arrests have yet been made.

“I understand this is likely to be concerning to local people, but we do believe it to be an isolated incident and we have extra patrols in the area today who are there for people to speak to if they wish”.

Anyone with information should report online here or via the web chat service and quote Operation Aerospace.

Those without internet access should call 101.

A statement from Wisbech police said: “We are carrying out reassurance patrols in the Waterlees estate area of Wisbech following the launch of a murder investigation in Beechwood Road.

“We understand that events like this can cause worry to the local residents.”

If you have any concerns residents are asked to please speak to one of the officers at the scene or contact them online https://orlo.uk/2rBaz

“We have dedicated specialist officers piecing together the circumstances, however we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or who has any information,” said the statement.
