An 80-year-old man is being treated in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, after being stabbed in the neck.

Norfolk Police revealed tonight that a man from King’s Lynn has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Hockwold, Norfolk, yesterday morning (Thursday 29 February 2024).

A police spokesperson said: “We were called just before 9am following reports that a man had been stabbed in the neck.

“The victim, a man in his 80s, was initially taken to the QEH Hospital but later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for treatment, where he remains.”

The spokesperson said a man in his 20s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Ashley Francis, 26 of Whittington Hill, King’s Lynn has been charged with attempted murder.

He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court tomorrow morning (Saturday 2 March 2024).
