A man has been banned from driving after a member of the public called in his dangerous driving. The concerned motorist called police at 6.45pm on 2 December to report a silver Infiniti being driven dangerously along Huntingdon Road in Cambridge.

The witness followed the vehicle while police were dispatched and dashcam captured driver, Rozlan Ebanks, hitting kerbs, driving the wrong side of the road into oncoming traffic and barely missing other vehicles and members of the public.

Officers pulled over 64-year-old Ebanks in Newnham Road where he provided a positive breath test of 111 microgrammes, more than three times the legal limit of 35.

At Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Friday (28 February), Ebanks, of Foster Road, Trumpington, was disqualified from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to drink driving and dangerous driving.

He was also given a 24 week prison sentence, suspended for two years.

PC Peter Lloyd, from the Cambridge Neighbourhood Team, said: “Ebanks put lives at risk getting behind the wheel after consuming large amounts of alcohol.

“Thanks to the member of the public who reported his driving, he’s now off the road for a considerable amount of time.”

Members of the public can report drink and drug drivers through a confidential hotline on 0800 032 0845
