A drug dealer who carried a kitchen knife down his trousers has been jailed. Neighbourhood officers were on patrol in Cambridge on the afternoon of 30 June last year (2023) when they spotted a group of suspected drug dealers and users near to a play park in Church Street, Chesterton, Cambridge.

As they approached the trio, Callum Schooling ran off and officers could see a large red knife in the waistband of his trousers.

Following a short foot chase, Schooling, 22, of Talbot Way, Letchworth, was arrested and found in possession of the knife, a mobile phone, more than £600 in cash and five pairs of new sunglasses.

He also discarded a second mobile phone which was also recovered.

At Cambridge Crown Court yesterday (5 November), Schooling was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison after previously pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and possession of a bladed article.

PC Will Lovell, from the Neighbourhood Support Team, said: “This sentence reflects the serious nature of both drug dealing and carrying a weapon. Thanks to the team’s work, he is now off the streets. We hope this serves as a reminder that drug dealing is not tolerated in our county.”
