An estate agent has REMOVED a photo from a listing for a Grade II listed house overlooking majestic Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire – after admitting it ALTERED the picture to delete the parking bays in front of the cottage.
The beautiful 18th century house in Church Lane in view of the iconic 11th century cathedral and Oliver Cromwell’s 17th century house, has been put on the market for the first time in 100 years.
“I did a double take when I saw the estate agent’s photo because there are parking bays along Church Lane and they are always full,” said local Peter Clarke.
“The estate agent gives the impression it is a big empty space but in fact it’s always packed with cars down that road because people park there to visit the cathedral and museum.”
The parking bays line both sides of Church Lane with a notice explaining that cars can park there for up to four hours.
Jackson-Stops Newmarket said the photo was an “error” and has now “been removed.”
A spokesperson from Jackson-Stops Newmarket, said: “This was an error that does not align with our high standards for transparency in property marketing. The image has been removed from the listing.
“We have reinforced our image guidelines with our team and implemented additional review processes to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
Palace Green Cottage, which has a guide price of £895,000, has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and boasts an array of period features, including sash windows, herringbone brick floors and a bread oven.
It is built of Cambridgeshire buff and pink brick under an Old Cambridgeshire tile and Welsh slate roof and has impressive chimney stacks.
The cottage comes with a walled courtyard garden and is situated in a unique position next to Palace Green in the city centre, with stunning views of the Cathedral.
