Four people died on Sunday in two separate crashes on the A47 in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

A man died after his car crashed into a tree on the A47 at Wisbech.

And three people died on the A47 between Middleton and Kings Lynn on Sunday following a two-car crash.

Emergency services were called to the A47 roundabout in Wisbech – where the A47 meets Elm High Road  – at 12.50am yesterday (Sunday 15 January 2023) following reports a blue Audi S4 car had collided with a tree.

The car had been travelling along Elm High Road towards the roundabout and the junction with the A47 when it left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

The driver of the car, a 35-year-old man, died at the scene.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision or the manner of driving or anyone with dash cam footage to email Norfolk Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit at SCIU@norfolk.police.uk or telephone 101 quoting incident number 9 of 15 January 2023.

The crash in which three people near King’s Lynn on the A47 was at  Constitution Hill, North Runcton at 7.40pm.

Police said there was crash between a white Vauxhall Mokka and black BMW X5 near to the Constitution Hill roundabout.

“Emergency services were on scene but the three occupants of the Vauxhall Mokka, two aged in their 40s and one in their 20s, were pronounced dead by paramedics,” said a spokesperson for Norfolk Police.

Road closures were in place on the A47 at North Runcton until this afternoon (16 January). These are lifted now, and road is open.

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving in connection with the crash and is being questioned at King’s Lynn Police Investigation Centre.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collision, or who witnessed the collision itself to contact them on 101 and quote reference 36/3637/23 or email the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at SCIU@Norfolk.police.uk.
