Free-to-use public Wifi is being rolled out to more locations with Oxmoor at Huntingdon, March, and Whittlesey the next to receive it.

The aim, says the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CAPCA), is to “improve digital inclusion and help everyone stay connected”.

And to boost local usage in areas where public Wifi is already available, “eye catching new stickers” are being issued across Ely, Huntingdon, Ramsey, St Ives, St Neots and Peterborough.

The secure public access Wifi network is being installed through the Connecting Cambridgeshire programme with funding from CAPCA.

News for Peterborough - March Quality Meats have been in business since 1995 and has built a reputation for quality and pricing. But footfall has been affected by regeneration scheme.

In addition to the market towns the free Wifi network is widely available in public buildings, libraries and leisure centres across the county, and Cambridge Park & Ride sites, so that more people can get online for free.

Dr Nik Johnson, Mayor of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough said: “The Combined Authority is passionate about strengthening connectivity within our communities.

“As well as helping people to stay connected whilst visiting our city and market town centres, having free CambWifi will enable local councils and business groups to improve services and offerings to attract more visitors.”

He added: “We’re committed to supporting residents and the provision of free-to-use, safe and secure Wifi in public areas is just one of the ways we’re doing this.

“A big thank-you to Connecting Cambridgeshire who continue to raise awareness and have been putting up these stickers to let people know where they can save data and get online for free.”

Find out more about the digital technology projects via the Connecting Cambridgeshire website and visit the Public Access Wifi pages to discover all the places around the county where you can get online for free.

How to access CambWifi
