GALLERY: Remembrance Day parade and wreath laying in Peterborough

Peterborough residents came together to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.

Peterborough City Council, in conjunction with the Peterborough Branch of the Royal British Legion, commemorated both the Remembrance Sunday Silence and Wreath Laying and the Armistice Two Minute Silence at the War Memorial outside the Town Hall in Bridge Street.

The Remembrance Sunday service took place at the War Memorial starting at 10.30am on Sunday 10 November.

The Armistice two-minute silence service started at 10.40am on Monday, 11 November, also at the War Memorial.

Members of the public were invited to join both events at the War Memorial or alternatively watch on a large screen in Cathedral Square, while the wreath laying service and silence was also  streamed on Peterborough City Council’s YouTube channel, which can be accessed here.

Cllr Marco Cereste, Mayor of Peterborough, said: “It is vitally important to remember those who have served for their country. Remembrance Day gives us all the chance to pay our respects to all those who have been killed or injured in the service of their country in conflicts both recent and in the past.”

“The purchasing and wearing of a poppy is a lovely way to remember those who lost their lives, and it also supports the serving and former servicemen and women of today,” he said.
