Fire crews from 20 miles away were called to Peterborough on Wednesday to tackle a fire in a flat. The alert was raised after the blaze broke out in a first floor flat on Oundle Road.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said they were called at 10.24am after the alarm was raised.

Crews from Stanground, Dogsthorpe and Huntingdon were called to the fire on Oundle Road in Peterborough.

“Firefighters arrived to find a fire in a first floor flat,” said the spokesperson.
“Wearing breathing apparatus, they extinguished the fire using a hose reel.”

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
