50 students from Impington International College’s Performance School wowed audience members at Cambridge Junction with a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

The performance saw students from Years 10 – 13 star both onstage as performers and within the production team, including stage management, technical design and photography.

Alfie McCreadie, a Year 13 actor who played Nick Bottom, said: “I have always loved Shakespeare, and rehearsing and performing in this classic comedy has been a fantastic experience.

“I have gained an invaluable understanding of the art of comedy and solidified the technical basis of my acting. I also had a huge amount of fun developing and performing my role. This is my final year at The Performance School – a place which has enabled me to train at the standard required to secure offers from my dream drama school institutions.

“I am delighted to have gained offers to study Musical Theatre at Arts Educational Schools thanks to the incredible education and support provided by The Performance School.”

Lottie. T, Year 10 student, said: “I have loved being in A Midsummer Night’s Dream! Working with the Sixth Form performers is such a joy because they all look out for everyone.

“Being part of this production has led me to the decision that I want to pursue training at The Performance School when I finish Year 11. I had such a great time performing and can’t wait for the next production!”

Director of Performance at Impington International College, Laura Bell, who oversees The Performance School, alongside fellow Director of Performance Nell Macleod, said: “It has been wonderful to watch our students work hard to pull this production together and collaborate across four year groups and a range of disciplines and skill sets.

“The Performance School students have really come into their own, leading the process and performance. I am incredibly proud of them all for their individual performances and production roles, but also for the way they have come together as a collective ensemble, which is what The Performance School is all about: supporting the individual to excel and flourish whilst working together and inspiring each other.

“We are really proud of The Performance School offering, where our students are able to combine professional training and coaching with their academic studies and be showcased in a wide range of live performances throughout their time at the College.

“This gives them a really holistic and hands-on learning experience, as well as an excellent foundation in rigorous performance training in readiness for their next steps.

“We are now excited for our upcoming performance of You, Me and the Rest of the World, choreographed by our dance artist-in-residence and London Contemporary Dance School graduate Amy Holly, which will be performed as part of the prestigious U Dance East festival in March.”
