A charity has pleaded for donations not to be dumped outside their shop whilst it is closed. Branching Out made the plea after volunteers arriving to open their shop in High Street, Littleport, found the entrance piled high with a mini mountain of black bins.

“This morning our hard working team of staff and volunteers will have to clear up this mess instead of raising money for our charity,” the charity posted to their Facebook page.

“Now that these donations have been exposed to the elements, the majority of them will need to be disposed of (which costs our charity money).”

Their post added that one of the many reasons they do not accept donations outside of opening hours “is that they get ripped open and searched through before we can get to them.

“PLEASE BRING YOUR DONATIONS DURING OUR OPENING HOURS IN FUTURE.”
