Lorna Dupré, the Lib Dem candidate to be the next Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough has jumped from 7/1 to 2/1 in Ladbrokes’ odds, emphasising how the contest has narrowed.

Peterborough Liberal Democrats took to the streets outside the Town Hall on Saturday together with Lib Dem Mayoral candidate, Cllr Lorna Dupre, to invite people's views on how to bring about a ‘Greener, Fairer and Better-Connected Peterborough and Cambridgeshire!’

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ladbrokes Politics stated Lorna ‘has been the biggest mover so far across all of our Mayoral races’.

The jump suggests trouble for Labour’s Anna Smith, with Labour’s support collapsing across Cambridgeshire. Ladbrokes now have her on 6/1.

This means Lorna is now the bookie’s favourite to beat Paul Bristow, the Conservative front runner in the mayoral contest.

Lorna said; “The bookies are catching up to what we have seen across the county in the course of our campaign – voters all around Cambridgeshire are fed up with Labour and want to see the back of the Conservatives for good. They know that following our General Election success – returning three MPs in Cambridgeshire – the Liberal Democrats have the momentum needed to win.”

“We all want a mayor who focuses on the issues that matter most to our communities. Fixing Cambridgeshire’s broken roads, delivering for our local NHS and social care services, improving our vital public transport networks and protecting our precious environment. The only way to get that is by backing me on 1st May.

“The next Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will either be me or Paul Bristow – don’t just take my word for it. The bookies are saying it too.”
