LORNA FOR MAYOR:

The Liberal Democrats launched Lorna Dupré’s campaign to become the next Mayor of Cambridgeshire & Peterborough with a packed rally at Trumpington Park & Ride in Cambridge today. The event was led by Lorna alongside local MPs Pippa Heylings and Charlotte Cane, with dozens of activists, local election candidates, and supporters in attendance.

In her speech, Lorna pledged to focus on local priorities if elected—supporting Cambridgeshire’s overstretched NHS services, securing funding to fix the county’s crumbling roads, and repairing broken public transport links.

News for Peterborough -

The Liberal Democrats currently hold 23 seats on Cambridgeshire County Council, compared to the Conservatives’ 21. They are aiming to gain further ground in the local elections to give Lorna a council she can work with to deliver real change for residents if elected.

Flanked by two of Cambridgeshire’s three Liberal Democrat MPs, Pippa Heylings and Charlotte Cane—both of whom won their seats in last year’s General Election—Lorna told supporters that the local elections on 1st May offer voters the chance to “finish the job” and move the county forward after years of Conservative and Labour failure.

Lorna Dupré said:

“For four years, Cambridgeshire had a Conservative Mayor and a Conservative-led Council who slashed local services and left us in crisis. Then for another four years, we had a Labour Mayor who failed to fix the mess. While the joint administration running the County Council has done its best, Cambridgeshire residents deserve a fresh start—with a Liberal Democrat Mayor and Council working together to deliver real change.”

“On 1st May, residents have a historic opportunity to break free from the failed politics of the past, beat the Conservatives for good in Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, and hold the Labour government to account for the promises they’ve already forgotten since the General Election.”

“This is our chance to secure genuine change for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough.”

With momentum building, the Lib Dems are positioning Lorna as the candidate to bring real solutions to the county—offering voters a strong alternative to the status quo.
