A Peterborough resident wants to know what the city council is going to do about escalating cases of fly tipping and littering.

Jonathan Theobald says he recently reported fly tipping to the council “and that has finally been cleared”.

But he says the issue is widespread “and are a drain on the council’s resources and make parts of Peterborough resemble a third world slum.

He has now used the ‘ask the leader’ forum on the city council website to quiz council leader Wayne Fitzgerald on “what lessons does the leader think Peterborough can learn from more successful local authorities that could help reduce the problems faced in this city?”.

Meanwhile CambsNews took a look at the FixMyStreet website which is used by many local councils – including Peterborough – to enable residents to report incidents ranging from potholes and overgrown hedges to dumped cars, graffiti, and fly tipping.
