Urban Farm-It, Kent’s pioneering organic mushroom farm is thrilled to announce the
exclusive launch of its fresh, hand-harvested Lion’s Mane mushrooms in Sainsbury’s
superstores across the country – marking the first time this unique UK-grown food is available
fresh to consumers through the supermarket. The striking, fluffy-white, individual mushrooms
are available in 200g punnets, priced at £5, and are perfect for adding a gourmet twist to
everyday dishes. This launch represents a significant step forward in bringing this rare produce
to British households.

Founder of Urban Farm-It, Elliot Webb comments, “We’re incredibly excited to launch our fresh
UK-grown Lion’s Mane mushrooms in Sainsbury’s – a first for a UK supermarket. Bringing this
unique ingredient to consumers across the country is a huge milestone for us. Lion’s Mane is
gaining recognition for its versatility in plant-based cooking, with its meaty texture making it an
excellent alternative to seafood and meat. Urban Farm-It are passionate about growing
exceptional produce and we can’t wait to see how shoppers embrace the unique flavour and
culinary potential of Lion’s Mane.”
Grown in the heart of Kent, the gourmet mushrooms offer an innovative meat-free option. With
their naturally dense texture and delicate flavour, Lion’s Mane provides a versatile ingredient for
plant-based cooking.

To ensure optimal flavour and quality, each mushroom is carefully harvested at peak maturity
on the farm. The mushrooms are then packed in a fully recyclable, beautifully designed black
cardboard punnet featuring a unique QR code inviting Sainsbury’s customers to explore the full
journey from farm to plate.
To help consumers explore the versatility of this unique ingredient, the QR code provides access
to a specially curated recipe book featuring innovative dishes from plant-based chefs. From
pressing and cooking Lion’s Mane mushrooms into a delicious steak to slicing or breaking them
into pieces for dishes like stroganoff, this digital guide empowers home cooks to discover new
and exciting ways to enjoy their distinctive flavours.
Scanning the code also unlocks a wealth of content, including a behind-the-scenes look at
Urban Farm-It, and insightful information about Lion’s Mane mushrooms.
The Lion’s Mane Mushroom 200g Punnet are available to buy now in selected Sainsbury’s stores
across the country.
